Location 

The sound system amplifier control unit is located under the driver seat.

Task 

The sound system amplifier control unit has the following tasks:

• Receive signals
• Decoding, supporting and amplifying signals
• Transmitting signals

Receive signals 

The sound system amplifier control unit receives the following signals:

• Circuit "30g" and circuit "31"
• Audio muting (MUTE) and speed signal from audio gateway control unit (N93/1) via telematics CAN (CAN A)
• Electrical wake-up
• Audio signals from radio (A2) (with code 535 (smart media system) or with code 537 (smart audio system))

Decoding, supporting and amplifying signals 

• Decoding of copy-protected audio signals based on Digital Signal Processing (DSP), DSP technology
• Supporting of surround sound
• Supporting stereo entertainment channels and announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation announcements, etc.)
• Amplifying decoded audio signals

Transmitting signals 

The sound system amplifier control unit sends electrical signals to the following components for audio output:

• Left front door speaker (H4/5)
• Right front door speaker (H4/6)
• Left rear speaker (H4/7)
• Right rear speaker (H4/8)
• Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
• Bass speaker (H4/29)
• Left mirror triangle tweeter (H4/33)
• Right mirror triangle tweeter (H4/34)
• Left rear tweeter (H4/35) (model 453.0 only)
• Right rear tweeter (H4/36) (model 453.0 only)
• Left rear surround speaker (H4/54) (model 453.0/3 only)
• Right rear surround speaker (H4/55) (model 453.0/3 only)
