Audio/navigation, general
The radio (A2) is the central control unit for the entertainment and communications systems integrated in the vehicle. With code 537 (smart audio system), operation takes place via the radio control panel.
With code 535 (smart media system), the operation, indication and menu display take place via the smart radio multimedia navigator.
The Audio/navigation function system contains the following subfunctions, which are described in separate documents:
- Audio mode function
- Mobile phone system function
- Speaker output function
- Internet connection, function (with code 535 (smart media system))
- Voice control, function (with code 535 (smart media system))
- Navigation function with SD card navigation (with code 535 (smart media system))
The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) acts as a gateway. The audio gateway control unit is installed in combination with the radio and/or smart radio multimedia navigator and is the interface between Control Area Network bus Class A (telematics CAN (CAN A)) and Control Area Network bus Class B (interior CAN (CAN B)).
The audio gateway control unit communicates with the following control units via telematics CAN:
- Radio
- Sound system amplifier control unit (A2/13) (with code 810 (Sound system))
- Smart radio multimedia navigator (with code 535 (smart media system))
The smart radio multimedia navigator receives software uploads for all telematics CAN subscribers via interior CAN from the diagnostic connector (X11/4) connected to the diagnostic unit.
