Windshield Wiper System Automatic Speed Reduction Function - GF82.30-P-4009KJ
MODEL 453.0/3/4
except CODE 494 (US version)
Additional function requirements for automatic speed reduction function sequence
- Engine running (circuit 61 ON) (except model 453.091/391/491),
- Drivetrain operational (model 453.091/391/491),
- Vehicle is being driven, v ≥ 7 km/h
The automatic speed reduction function sequence is subdivided into the following subfunctions:
- Automatic speed reduction to continuous wipe at slow wiping speed
- Automatic speed reduction to intermittent wipe
Automatic speed reduction to continuous wipe at slow wiping speed
If the continuous wipe at fast wiping speed function is switched on at a vehicle speed of v ≥ 7 km/h using the windshield wiper system switch (S4/4) and the vehicle speed then drops to v ≤ 3 km/h, the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/11) automatically switches from "Continuous wipe at fast wiping speed" back to "Continuous wipe at slow wiping speed" and therefore actuates the wiper motor (M6/1) at stage 1 rather than stage 2. If the vehicle speed increases to v > 7 km/h again, "Continuous wipe at fast wiping speed" is automatically activated again.
The position of the windshield wiper system switch is read in directly by the driver-side SAM control unit. "Engine running" status (circuit 61 ON) is received by the driver-side SAM control unit from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) via the interior CAN (CAN B) (except model 453.091/391/491). On model 453.091/391/491 the driver-side SAM control unit receives the "Drivetrain operational" status via the interior CAN from the electric drive control unit (N127) (only model 453.091/391/491). The vehicle speed is transmitted by the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) to the driver-side SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The automatic speed reduction of continuous wipe at slow wiping speed is canceled under the following conditions:
- Vehicle speed v > 7 km/h
- Changing wiper speed
Automatic speed reduction to intermittent wipe
If the continuous wipe at slow wiping speed function is switched on at a vehicle speed of v ≥ 7 km/h and the vehicle speed then drops to v ≤ 3 km/h, the driver-side SAM control unit switches back from "Continuous wipe at slow wiping speed" to "Intermittent wipe" with a fixed time interval of t = 5 s between wipe cycles. If the vehicle speed increases to v > 7 km/h again, "Continuous wipe at slow wiping speed" is automatically activated again.
The automatic speed reduction to intermittent wiping is canceled under the following conditions:
- Vehicle speed v > 7 km/h
- Changing wiper speed
