- Receiving real-time traffic data from the service provider via the integrated GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) antenna
- Forwarding real-time traffic data via the USB connection to the smart radio multimedia navigator
- Sending position data via the integrated GSM antenna to the service provider
- Sending an emergency call ("E-Call") and transferring position data over the integrated SIM card (e-SIM) and the integrated GSM antenna to the emergency call center (with E-call emergency call system)
- Receiving weather information for any location
- Receiving "Quick GPS Fix" (for accelerated GPS positioning)
- Receiving radar warnings (for countries in which the function is legally permitted)
- TomTom Places: Online POI search based on comprehensive database
- Waking the telematics CAN (CAN A) and interior CAN (CAN B) when requested via the wake-up signal from the car2go control unit (N112/3) (on vehicles with code P02 (car2go))
- Exchange of a pairing code (tracking code) with the center SAM control unit (N10/10) for extended theft protection of the immobilizer for start enable (vehicles with code P02 (car2go)) or code 54P (Line package rental model)
- Reception of "Stolen Vehicle Tracking Message" and denial of communication with the center SAM control unit when this message is received (vehicles with code P02 (car2go)) or code 54P (Line package rental model)
- Reception of the "Activate pre-entry climate control at required time" request and forwarding of this request via the interior CAN to the center SAM control unit and the electric drive control unit (N127) (only model 453.091/391/491 with code U14 (A/C package))
- Reception of immediate pre-entry climate control activation request via the "smart me" vehicle homepage and forwarding of this request via the interior CAN to the center SAM control unit and to the electric drive control unit (model 453.091/391/491 only)
- Reception of the "Activate Smart Charging" request via the "smart me" vehicle homepage and forwarding of this request to the Powerline Gateway control unit (N24/5) (model 453.091/391/491 only)
The telematics services communications module tasks are broken down as follows:
- Read in sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Transmitting signals
Read in sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Telematics CAN (CAN A)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
The following signals and sensors are read via direct lines:
- Circuit 30
- Circuit 31
- Terminal 15
- Wake-up signal "AV_ACC" (with code P02 (car2go))
- USB connector to smart radio multimedia navigator (A40/3) (with code 535 (smart Media-System)) or to radio (A2)
- E-call button signal (with E-call emergency call system)
- Call button signal (with code P02 (car2go))
- Airbag-ON signal (with E-call emergency call system) from supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10)
- Hands-free system microphone (B25/12) (with E-call emergency call system or with code P02 (car2go))
- eCall Russia control unit (GLONASS) (N167) (with E-call emergency call system)
Telematics CAN (CAN A)
The telematics services communications module is a telematics CAN subscriber. The telematics services communications module reads in signals from the following control units over the telematics CAN:
- Audio gateway control unit (N93/1)
- Smart radio multimedia navigator
Interior CAN (CAN B)
The telematics services communications module is an interior CAN subscriber. The telematics services communications module reads in signals from the following control units over the interior CAN:
- Supplemental restraint system control unit
- Center SAM control unit
- Instrument cluster (A1)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor of the telematics services communications module whereupon the respective components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Telematics CAN
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Circuit "58d" output for switch and controls illumination for E-call button (with E-call emergency call system)
- Wake-up signal "ACC_OUT" for sound system amplifier control unit (A2/13) (with code 810 (Sound system))
- USB connector to smart radio multimedia navigator (with code 535 (smart Media-System)) or to radio
- AUDIO output "AUDIO HU OUT" to AUX connection for smart radio multimedia navigator (with code P02 (car2go))
- "MUTE" signal to smart radio multimedia navigator (with E-call emergency call system or with code P02 (car2go))
- E-Call status indication "LED-Out" (with E-call emergency call system)
- Audio output (speaker) (with E-call emergency call system or with code P02 (car2go))
- eCall Russia control unit (GLONASS) (with E-call emergency call system)
Telematics CAN
