Location 

The audio gateway control unit is installed in the instrument panel on the left under the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/11).

Task 

The audio gateway control unit is installed in combination with the radio (A2) or with the smart radio multimedia navigator (A40/3) (with code 535 (smart media system)), and is the interface between the telematics CAN (CAN A) and the interior CAN (CAN B).

Function 

The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) monitors the operating condition of all components on the telematics CAN. It enables the operation via voice command by means of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) and the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) as well as the menu control of the instrument cluster (A1) via the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110). Furthermore, the audio gateway control unit is the central interface for diagnosis for the audio components. The audio gateway control unit can be activated via a separate wake-up line and via interior CAN.
