Installation [07/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column.
    2. Install the intermediate shaft.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ] 

    3. Install the joint bolt B.
    4. Install the steering column component.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ] 

    5. Install the nut.
    6. Install the joint bolt A.
    7. Install the joint cover.
    8. Install the intermediate shaft to the steering column.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ] 

    9. Verify that the adjusting lever of the steering column component is locked.
      NOTE:

      Do not unlock the adjusting lever until the steering column installation is completed to prevent damage to the steering column.

      *a Unlock Position
      *b Lock Position
      *c Adjusting Lever
    10. Temporarily install the steering column component to the instrument panel safety pad assembly using nuts A and B.

      *a Nut A
      *b Nut B
    11. Tighten the nuts in the order of nut A and nut B.

      Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      If the steering column is installed, install it according to the procedure to prevent damage to intermediate shaft that could result if the steering column is installed in the incorrect order.

      *a Nut A
      *b Nut B
      N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf): Specified torque
    12. Insert the intermediate shaft into the steering gear (pinion) to the position shown in the figure and tighten it using a new joint bolt.

      *a Intermediate Shaft
      *b Joint Bolt
      *c Steering Gear (Pinion)
      N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf): Specified torque
      Non-reusable part

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

    13. Install the joint cover.

      *a Joint Cover
    14. Install the engine stop and start ECU.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    15. Install the light switch and the wiper and washer switch.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    16. Install the spiral cable.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    17. Install the column cover.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    18. Assemble the wiring harness clips and connectors shown in the figure.

      *a Wiring Harness Clip
      *b Connector
    19. Install the driver-side lower panel.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    20. Assemble the seaming welt.
    21. Install the following parts.
      1. Fuel-filler lid opener lever

        Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

      2. Hood release lever

        Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

      3. Driver-side front side trim

        Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

      4. Driver-side front scuff plate

        Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    22. With the steering wheel sub-assembly in the straight-ahead position, install the steering wheel sub-assembly using a new lockbolt.

      N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf): Specified torque
      Non-reusable part

      Torque: 47.5 N*m (484 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf) 

    23. Install the driver-side steering pad.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    24. Connect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2015 - ]

    25. If the steering column is replaced, perform the auto configuration using the following procedure.
      1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 min. or more.
      2. Switch the ignition off and wait for 3 s or more.
      3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and complete the power steering ECU auto configuration.
      4. Clear the DTC.

        Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [07/2015 - ]

      5. Switch the ignition off and wait for 3 s or more.
      6. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 min. or more.
      7. Using the Techstream, verify that DTCs U2300:54/U2300:55/U2300:56 are not displayed.

        If DTCs U2300:54/U2300:55/U2300:56 are displayed, go to the DTC troubleshooting procedure.
