Intermediate Shaft: Inspection: Inspection
- INSPECT REVERSE CLUTCH DISC
- Check whether the sliding surfaces of the discs, plates and flanges are worn or burnt.
If necessary, replace them.
NOTE:- If the lining of any disc is peeling off or discolored, or even if a part of the printed mark is defaced, replace all the discs.
- Before assembling new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.
- Check whether the sliding surfaces of the discs, plates and flanges are worn or burnt.
- INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH DISC
- Check whether the sliding surfaces of the discs, plates and flanges are worn or burnt.
If necessary, replace them.

- INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.

31.7 mm (1.2480 in.)
- Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.
- INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Shake the direct clutch pin and confirm that the check ball is not stuck.
- Apply low pressure compressed air to the check ball and confirm that there is no air leakage.
- INSPECT INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Shake the direct clutch pin and confirm that the check ball is not stuck.
- Apply low pressure compressed air to the check ball and confirm that there is air leakage.
