DTC P0505: Idle Control System Malfunction: Procedure
- CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0505)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read DTCs.RESULT
Result Proceed to P0505 A P0505 and other DTCs B HINT:
If any DTCs other than P0505 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

- CHECK PCV HOSE CONNECTIONS
- Check the PCV hose connections. Refer to COMPONENTS

OK
PCV valve and hose are connected correctly and are not damaged.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE PCV HOSE
OK: Go to next step
- Check the PCV hose connections. Refer to COMPONENTS
.
- CHECK INTAKE SYSTEM
- Check the intake system for vacuum leak. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1

OK
No leak from intake system.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE INTAKE SYSTEM
OK: Go to next step
- Check the intake system for vacuum leak. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1

- INSPECT THROTTLE BODY (THROTTLE VALVE)
- Check the throttle valve condition.
OK
Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign objects and moves smoothly.
NG → See step 7
OK: Go to next step
- Check the throttle valve condition.
- CONFIRM WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
- Read the pending DTCs.RESULT
Result Proceed to P0505 A No DTC output B
