Fuel Injector: Inspection: Inspection

  1. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 11.6 to 12.4 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel injector assembly.

    2. Inspect the injector injection.
      WARNING: Keep the injector away from sparks during the test.
      1. Connect SST (fuel tube connector) to SST (hose) with SST (hose band), and then connect them to the fuel pipe (vehicle side).

      2. Install the O-ring to the fuel injector.
      3. Connect SST (adapter and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (hose band).

        *1 SST (Hose)
        *2 SST (Hose Band)
        *3 SST (Adapter)
        *4 O-Ring
        *5 SST (Clamp)
        *6 Vinyl Tube
      4. Pass SST (tie band) through the loop on the handle of SST (clamp) to secure SST (clamp) to SST (adapter).

        *1 SST (Tie Band)
        *2 Lock
        NOTE:
        • As SST (tie band) does not completely prevent SST (clamp) from becoming loose, do not subject the parts to any impacts while using them.
        • Before using SST (tie band), make sure that there is no deterioration, damage or cracks. If there are any abnormalities, replace SST.

        HINT: 

        When removing SST (tie band), disengage the lock.

      5. Check that SST (clamp) and SST (adapter) cannot be easily separated.
      6. Install a vinyl tube to the injector.
        WARNING: Install a suitable vinyl tube to the injector to contain any gasoline spray.
      7. Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.
      8. Operate the fuel pump.
      9. Connect SST (EFI inspection wire H) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

        Standard injection volume

        87 to 105 cc (5.3 to 6.4 cu. in.) every 15 seconds

        Standard difference between each injector

        18 cc (1.1 cu. in.) or less

        *1 SST (EFI inspection wire H)
        Connect
        NOTE:
        • Make sure that SST (EFI inspection wire H) is securely connected.
        • Always do the switching at the battery side.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel injector assembly.

    3. Check for fuel drop.
      1. In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (EFI inspection wire H) from the battery and check for fuel drop from the injector.

        Standard fuel drop

        1 drop or less every 20 minutes

        If the fuel drop is not as specified, replace the fuel injector assembly.
