System Description

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
1. Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
  1. The ABS helps prevent the wheels from locking when the brakes are applied firmly or when braking on a slippery surface.
2. Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)
  1. EBD control utilizes the ABS and distributes proper brake force between the front and rear wheels in accordance with driving conditions. In addition, when braking while cornering, it also controls the brake forces applied to the right and left wheels, helping to stabilize vehicle behavior.
3. Brake Assist (BA)
  1. The primary purpose of brake assist is to provide supplementary brake force to assist a driver who cannot generate a large brake force during emergency braking, thus helping ensure the vehicle's braking performance.
4. Traction Control (TRAC)
  1. Helps prevent slippage of the drive wheels if the driver depresses the accelerator pedal excessively when starting off or accelerating on a slippery surface.
5. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
  1. Helps prevent sideways slippage of the vehicle during strong understeer or strong oversteer while cornering.

FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS

Component		Function
Brake actuator assembly	Solenoid valve Master cylinder cut solenoid valve	Change the fluid path based on the signals from the skid control ECU during the operation of the brake control system functions in order to control the fluid pressure applied to each wheel cylinder.
	Master cylinder pressure sensor	Built into the brake actuator, detects the master cylinder pressure.
	Skid control ECU	Judges the vehicle driving condition based on the signals from each sensor and sends brake control signals to the brake actuator.
	Motor relay	Supplies power to the pump motor.
	Solenoid relay	Supplies power to the solenoid valves.
	Motor fail-safe relay	Cuts off power to the motor when the pump motor circuit malfunctions. Housed in the skid control ECU.
Combination meter	BRAKE warning light	Illuminates together with the ABS warning light to alert the driver when the skid control ECU detects a malfunction in EBD control. Illuminates to alert the driver when the brake fluid level is low. Illuminates to inform the driver when the parking brake is applied.
	ABS warning light	Illuminates to alert the driver when the skid control ECU detects a malfunction in the ABS and/or BA.
	Slip indicator light	Blinks to inform the driver when TRAC or VSC is operating. Illuminates to alert the driver when the skid control ECU detects a malfunction in the TRAC or VSC systems.
	VSC OFF indicator light	Illuminates to inform the driver when VSC OFF mode is selected.
	TRAC OFF indicator light	Illuminates to inform the driver when TRAC OFF mode is selected
Steering angle sensor		Detects the direction and angle of the steering wheel.
Yaw rate and acceleration sensor		Detects the vehicle's longitudinal and lateral acceleration and deceleration. Detects the vehicle's yaw rate.
Speed sensor		Detect the wheel speed of each of the 4 wheels.
Stop light switch		Detects brake pedal operation.
Parking brake switch		Detects the parking brake pedal status.
VSC OFF switch		Allows the driver to select Normal mode, TRAC OFF mode, or VSC OFF mode.
ECM		Sends the throttle position signal, accelerator pedal position signal, engine speed signal, etc. to the skid control ECU. Based on the signals received from the skid control ECU, controls the engine output.
Main body ECU		Detects the parking brake signal and outputs it to the skid control ECU via CAN communication.
