Back Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors lock according to switch operation. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Door locks operate normally.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (B-DR OPENING OPERATION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TR/B-DOOR UNLOCK SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Tr/B-Door Unlock SW Back door outside handle sub-assembly (open switch) / OFF or ON OFF: Back door outside handle sub-assembly (unlock switch) not pushed
      ON: Back door outside handle sub-assembly (unlock switch) pushed
      • Displays whether the back door outside handle sub-assembly (unlock switch) is on or off.
      • Use this Data List item to help determine if there is a switch malfunction when the back door unlock function does not operate.

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in the table above.

    OK → See step   8 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the C19 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the L4 back door outside handle sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C19-22 (TSW5) - L4-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      L4-2 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      C19-22 (TSW5) or L4-1 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the back door outside handle sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION .

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. REPLACE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  8. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. PERFORM CUSTOMIZE SETTING (PROCEED TO CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS). Refer to  CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS
