Back Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION
    1. When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors lock according to switch operation. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Door locks operate normally.

    NG → See step   8

    OK: Go to next step

  2. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT
    1. Bring the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly near the electrical key antenna (outside luggage), and perform an entry back door open and entry lock functions check.

      *a Vehicle center
      *b Approximately 0.3 m (0.98 ft.)
      NOTE:

If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.656 ft.) of the rear bumper, communication is not possible.

      HINT:

      • When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is brought near the electrical key antenna, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.
      • If the operation is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation.

      OK

      Entry functions operate normally.

    NG → See step   3

OK → AFFECTED BY WAVE INTERFERENCE

  3. INSPECT BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
    1. Inspect the back door outside handle sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION .

    NG → See step   11

    OK: Go to next step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)
    1. Disconnect the back door outside handle sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L4-2 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      L4-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  5. CHECK KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE
    1. Check the following antennas in the key diagnostic mode. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .
      1. Check the electrical key antenna (outside luggage):

        *a Vehicle center
        *b 0.7 to 1.0 m (2.30 to 3.28 ft.)

When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is brought within 0.7 to 1 m (2.30 to 3.28 ft.) of the electrical key antenna (outside luggage), check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

        OK

        Wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

    NG → See step   6

    OK → See step   10

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OUTSIDE LUGGAGE)
    1. Disconnect the C20 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G29 electrical key antenna (outside luggage) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C20-19 (CLG8) - G29-1 (ANTE8) Always Below 1 Ω
      C20-20 (CG8B) - G29-2 (CLGB) Always Below 1 Ω
      C20-19 (CLG8) or G29-1 (ANTE8) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
C20-20 (CG8B) or G29-2 (CLGB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  7. INSPECT ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OUTSIDE LUGGAGE)
    1. Inspect the electrical key antenna (outside luggage). Refer to INSPECTION .

    NG → See step   12

    OK → See step   9

  8. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
  9. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL
  10. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL
  11. REPLACE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
  12. REPLACE ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OUTSIDE LUGGAGE). Refer to  REMOVAL
