Back Door Entry Lock Function does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to switch operation. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Door unlocks operate normally.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TR/B-DOOR LOCK SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      SMART KEY

      Techstream Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Tr/B-Door Lock SW Back door outside handle sub-assembly (lock switch) / OFF or ON OFF: Back door outside handle sub-assembly (lock switch) not pushed
      ON: Back door outside handle sub-assembly (lock switch) pushed
      • Displays whether the back door outside handle sub-assembly (lock switch) is on or off.
      • Use this Data List item to help determine if there is a switch malfunction when the back door lock function does not operate.

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in the table above.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   5 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the C19 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the L4 back door outside handle sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C19-23 (TSW6) - L4-4 (UL) Always Below 1 Ω
      C19-23 (TSW6) or L4-4 (UL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the back door outside handle sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION .

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  7. REPLACE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
