Steering Column Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect all the connectors and engage all the wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly.
  2. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

    1. Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering link assembly.
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Matchmark
    2. Install the bolt B.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Tighten the bolt A.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using pliers, expand the clamp.
    2. While holding the clamp expanded, install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly and engage the claw.
    3. Return the clamp to its original position.
    4. Connect all the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  4. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the 3 claws and install the upper steering column cover.
  5. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    1. Engage the 2 claws and install the lower steering column cover as shown in the illustration.
    2. Engage the 3 claws and install the lower steering column cover.

      HINT: 

      Press the area around the claw to engage it.

  6. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  7. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  8. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable.
  9. INSTALL STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  10. INSTALL NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  11. INSTALL KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  12. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 32
  13. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 
  14. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side as for the RH side. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 35 .

  15. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side as for the RH side. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 37 .

  16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

  17. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 

    Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

  18. PERFORM ASSIST MAP WRITING 

    Refer to REGISTRATION
