Front Seat Assembly: Reassembly

CAUTION: Wear protective gloves. Sharp surfaces on the front seat adjuster frame could cause injuries to your hands.

HINT:

The procedure described below is for the driver side of LHD. Use the same procedure for both the front passenger and driver sides of LHD, unless otherwise specified.

  1. INSTALL SEAT POSITION SENSOR (for Driver Side) 
    1. Provisionally install the seat position sensor.
      NOTE:
      • If the seat position sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the seat position sensor with a new one.
      • When installing the seat position sensor, make sure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

    2. Install a 1 mm (0.04 in.) feeler gauge between the seat rail and seat position sensor, as shown in the illustration.
    3. Push the top of the seat position sensor to the seat rail.
    4. While holding the seat position sensor, tighten the seat position sensor using "TORX" socket wrench T30.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL SEAT SLIDE POSITION SENSOR PROTECTOR (for Driver Side) 
    1. Engage the pin and install a new seat position sensor protector.

      NOTE: Do not damage portion A, shown in the illustration, when installing the seat position sensor protector.
  3. INSTALL OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU (for Front Passenger Side) 
    1. Engage the claw and install the occupant classification ECU.

  4. INSTALL FRONT SEAT WIRE (for Front Passenger Side) 
    1. Install the front seat wire with the 2 wiring harness clamps.
    2. Connect the 5 connectors.

  5. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION LOWER SHIELD LH 
    1. Engage the claw and install the front seat cushion lower shield.
    2. Tighten the screw.

  6. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION LOWER SHIELD RH 
    1. Engage the claw and install the front seat cushion shield lower.
    2. Tighten the screw.

  7. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER OUTSIDE COVER LH 
    1. Install the reclining adjuster outside cover with the screw.

  8. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER OUTSIDE COVER RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  9. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH 
    1. Engage the claw and install the reclining adjuster inside cover.

    2. Tighten the screw.
  10. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  11. INSTALL LOWER ACTIVE HEADREST UNIT 
    1. Install the lower active headrest unit with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

  12. INSTALL UPPER ACTIVE HEADREST UNIT 
    1. Connect the lower active headrest unit cable.
    2. Install the upper active headrest with the 5 nuts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Bolt A 

      Torque: 14 N*m (142 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) Bolt B

  13. INSTALL FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the front seat side airbag with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf)

    2. Install the 2 wire harness clamps.

    3. Install the 3 wire harness clamps and the airbag connector.

  14. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER PAD 
    1. Install the front seatback cover pad.
      NOTE: The fabric for fixing the airbag must not be wrinkled when installing the front seat back cover pad.

    2. Using hog ring pliers, install 2 new hog rings as shown in the illustration.

    3. Using hog ring pliers, install 3 new hog rings as shown in the illustration.

  15. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for both sides.

    1. Align the protruding portion of the front seat headrest support with the installation groove of the front seat adjuster frame.
    2. Engage the 2 claws and install the front seat headrest support.

  16. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER PAD 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and the 9 hooks and install the front seat cushion cover pad.

    2. Fix the front seat side airbag wire harness with the front seat cushion cover pad fixing cover.
    3. Install the 2 clips.

    4. Engage the 4 hooks and install the front seat cushion cover band.

  17. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD RH 
    1. Engage the claw and the clip and install the front seat cushion shield.

    2. Tighten the screw.
  18. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and the clip and install the front seat cushion shield.
    2. Tighten the screw.

  20. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE 
    1. Engage the claw and install the reclining adjuster release handle.

  21. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push the lock button of the rear seat headrest support and install the front seat headrest assembly.
