Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC not output A
      DTC output B

    B : INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

      OK: 

      The connector is securely connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard voltage: 

      11 to 14 V 

    NG: CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM OR BATTERY  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (CSW TERMINAL) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Condition Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A15-30 (CSW) - Body ground VSC OFF Switch held ON Below 1 Ω
      A15-30 (CSW) - Body ground VSC OFF Switch OFF (Not pressed) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG:  Go to step  8

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Perform Active Test of the combination meter using the Techstream (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ).

      OK: 

      The VSC OFF indicator light turns ON or OFF in accordance with the Techstream. 

    NG: Go to step 6 

    OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

  6. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Replace the combination meter (See REMOVAL ).
  7. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Perform Active Test of the combination meter using the Techstream (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ).

      OK: 

      The VSC OFF indicator light turns ON or OFF in accordance with the Techstream. 

    NG: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK : END 

  8. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the VSC OFF switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 6 Switch is pushed in Below 1 Ω
      3 - 6 Switch is not pushed in 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE VSC OFF SWITCH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A15-30 (CSW) - F25-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      A15-30 (CSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F25-3 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK : CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (SYMPTOM SIMULATION)  (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS  )
