Rear Speed Sensor: Removal

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  3. DISCONNECT SPEED SENSOR WIRE  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Mount the rear axle hub and bearing assembly in a vice between aluminum plates.
      NOTE: If it is dropped or heavily damaged, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
    2. Using a pin punch and hammer, remove the 2 pins from SST (09520-00031) and remove the attachment (09521-00010).
    3. Using SST and the 2 bolts (90101-12007), remove the speed sensor from the rear axle hub.

      SST 09520-00031 (09520-00040), 09521-00020, 09950-00020 

      NOTE:
      • Pull the speed sensor off straight, being careful not to make contact with the speed sensor rotor.

      • If the speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
      • Do not damage the speed sensor or rear axle hub contact surfaces.
      • Keep the sensor rotor free of foreign matter.
