Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. According to the display on tester, read on the "Data List".

      Main Body: 

      DATA LIST - MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Back Door Open Handle SW Back door opener switch signal (outside handle switch) / ON or OFF ON Back door opener switch is pushed
      OFF Back door opener switch is not pushed
      -

      OK: The display is as specified in the normal condition. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK : PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )

  2. INSPECT BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH 
    1. Remove the back door opener switch (See REMOVAL ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition
      2 - 3 Back door opener switch free (OFF) 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - 3 Back door opener switch pushed (ON) Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the back door opener switch (See INSTALLATION ).

    NG: REPLACE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F38 main body ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the O4 back door opener connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F38-7 (BDSU) - O4-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      F38-7 (BDSU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the back door opener connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O4-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK : REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
