Front Axle Hub: Removal

HINT:

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT

    1. Using SST and a hammer, unstake the staked part of the nut.

      SST 09930-00010 

      NOTE: Loosen the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.
    2. While applying the brakes, remove the axle hub nut.
  3. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the speed sensor wire and flexible hose from the shock absorber.

    2. Remove the bolt and separate the speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
      NOTE:
      • Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.
      • Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.

  4. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake caliper assembly from the steering knuckle.
      NOTE: Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down off the flexible hose.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC  (See REMOVAL )
  6. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts.
    2. Separate lower arm from the ball joint.

  8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and disconnect the shock absorber from the steering knuckle.

      HINT:

      While fixing the nuts in place, loosen and remove the bolts.

    2. Put matchmarks on the drive shaft and axle hub.
    3. Using a plastic-faced hammer, remove the steering knuckle with axle hub.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the boot and speed sensor rotor. Do not excessively push out the drive shaft from the axle assembly.

  9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and axle hub from the steering knuckle.

      NOTE: Do not place the hub and bearing's magnet rotor side so that it is facing downward, and do not allow the magnet rotor side to become damaged or contact foreign matter.
    2. Remove the front disc brake dust cover from the steering knuckle.
