Fuel Pump: Installation

  1. INSTALL FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE TUBE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new fuel suction tube set gasket onto the fuel tank.

    2. Align the protrusion on the fuel pump with the cutout on the fuel tank and install the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly.
      NOTE: The arm of the sender gauge should not be bent.

  2. INSTALL FUEL PUMP GAUGE RETAINER 
    1. While holding the fuel suction tube assembly to prevent it from tilting, align the starting mark on the fuel tank with the mark on the retainer and tighten the fuel pump gauge retainer 180° by hand.
      NOTE: Replace the fuel pump gauge retainer.

    2. Using SST, further turn the retainer 360° clockwise from the screw starting point and align the ribs on the retainer with alignment marks on the fuel tank, as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      • Align the ribs on the fuel pump gauge retainer with the tips of SST.
      • At the point where the retainer is turned 90° from the start of the thread, push the retainer in from the opposite side to the start of the thread. Check that the thread on the retainer is properly engaged with the one on the fuel tank.
  3. CONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Insert the fuel tank main tube.
    2. Install the tube joint clip.
      NOTE:
      • Check that there are no scratches or foreign matter on the connecting parts.
      • Check that the fuel tube joint is inserted securely.
      • Check that the fuel tube joint clip is on the collar of the fuel tube joint.
      • After installing the tube joint clips, check that the fuel tube joints have not been pulled off.
      • Do not damage any clips. If a clip is damaged, replace it.

  4. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER 
    1. Connect the fuel pump connector.

    2. Install the rear floor service hole cover with new butyl tape.

  5. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION WITH COVER PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly with the 5 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 42 N*m (428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf)

    2. Install the rear seat cushion under cover.
    3. Install the 2 rear seat cushion side covers.

    4. Pass the rear seat inner belt through the rear seat cushion cover pad slit.
    5. Engage the 3 hooks and install the rear seat cushion cover pad.
      NOTE: Make sure that the 2 rear seat cushion lock hooks and the rear seat cushion frame are securely engaged.

  6. INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK
