Front Axle Hub: Installation
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the front disc brake dust cover onto the steering knuckle.
- Install the axle hub with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 96 N*m (979 kgf*cm, 71 ft.*lbf)
NOTE: Do not place the hub and bearing's magnet rotor side so that it is facing downward, and do not allow the magnet rotor side to become damaged or contact foreign matter.
- INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY
- Align the matchmarks and install the front drive shaft assembly onto the front axle hub sub-assembly.
- Install the steering knuckle with the front axle assembly onto the front shock absorber with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 240 N*m (2447 kgf*cm, 177 ft.*lbf)
NOTE:- Only when reusing the bolts and nuts, apply a small amount of engine oil to the threads of the nuts.
- Be careful not do damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.
- INSTALL FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Connect the lower arm to the ball joint with the bolt and 2 nuts.
Torque: 89 N*m (908 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf)
- Connect the lower arm to the ball joint with the bolt and 2 nuts.
- INSTALL FRONT DISC (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
- Install the front disc brake caliper assembly onto the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 107 N*m (1090 kgf*cm, 79 ft.*lbf)
- Install the front disc brake caliper assembly onto the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.
- INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT
- Clean the threaded parts on the driveshaft and axle hub nut using a non-residue solvent.NOTE:
- Be sure to perform this work for a new driveshaft.
- Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign objects.
- Using a socket wrench (30 mm), install a new axle hub nut.
Torque: 216 N*m (2203 kgf*cm, 160 ft.*lbf)
HINT:
Stake the nut after inspecting for looseness and runout in the following steps.
- Using a chisel and hammer, stake the axle hub nut.
- Clean the threaded parts on the driveshaft and axle hub nut using a non-residue solvent.
- SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DISC (See REMOVAL )
- INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSTALL FRONT DISC (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR

- Install the flexible hose bracket and the speed sensor harness bracket onto the shock absorber with bolt A.
Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)
NOTE: Bolt A tightens the flexible hose bracket and speed sensor harness bracket together. Make sure that the flexible hose bracket is positioned over the speed sensor harness bracket. - Install the flexible hose bracket to the steering knuckle with bolt B.
Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)
- Install the front speed sensor to the steering knuckle with the bolt.
Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)
- Install the flexible hose bracket and the speed sensor harness bracket onto the shock absorber with bolt A.
- INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
- INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
- Inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment (See ADJUSTMENT ).
- CHECK VSC SENSOR SIGNAL
(See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )
