Throttle Body: Installation

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.

    2. Install the throttle body assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)

    3. Connect the throttle hose.

    4. Connect the connector.

    5. Connect the No. 2 water by-pass hose to the throttle body.

    6. Connect the No. 1 water by-pass hose to the throttle body.

    7. Connect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE 
    1. Install the air cleaner filter element.

    2. Install and lock the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and air cleaner hose and then tighten the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp.

    3. Connect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose.
    4. Connect the No. 2 ventilation hose to the air cleaner hose.

    5. Install the vacuum switching valve assembly.

    6. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.
    7. Install the wire harness.

  3. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  4. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the cover with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf)

  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION  
    NOTE: NOTICE: 
    • Be sure to perform this procedure after reassembling the throttle body assembly or removing and reinstalling any throttle body component.
    • Be sure to perform this procedure after replacing the ECM.
      1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 second and reconnect the cable.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position without operating the accelerator pedal.
      3. NOTICE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. 

      4. Connect the tester to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
      5. Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off after the engine is warmed up.

        Standard:

        Standard

        Condition Engine Idle Speed
        A/C switched off 600 to 700 rpm
      6. NOTICE: 

        • Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off.
        • Make sure that the shift lever is in N or P.

      7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/ Engine and ECT/ Data List/ Throttle Position. Sensor Output. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more.
      8. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.
