Steering Linkage: Inspection

INSPECT POWER STEERING RACK
1. Using a dial indicator, check for runout of the steering rack and teeth wear.
  Maximum runout:
  
  0.1 mm (0.004 in.)
  
  If runout exceeds the maximum, replace the power steering rack.
  
  NOTE: Make sure that the steering rack is placed horizontally.

2. Check the rack surface for wear and damage. If runout exceeds the maximum, replace the power steering link assembly.
