Automatic Transaxle Assembly: Removal

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 

    HINT:

    See the steps from "DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE" through "REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY" (See REMOVAL ).

  2. REMOVE ENGINE LATERAL CONTROL ROD 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and remove the engine lateral control rod from the automatic transaxle.

  3. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 
    1. Remove the flywheel housing under cover.

  4. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT 
    1. Remove the 6 torque converter set bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

  5. SEPARATE INLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER TUBE 
    1. Using union nut wrench, separate the inlet No. 1 oil cooler tube while holding the oil cooler tube union with a wrench.

  6. SEPARATE OUTLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER TUBE 
    1. Using union nut wrench, separate the outlet No. 1 oil cooler tube while holding the oil cooler tube union with a spanner.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 
    1. Remove the bolt and remove No. 2 oil cooler tube clamp from the oil filler tube.

    3. Remove the inlet No. 1 oil cooler tube and the No. 1 outlet oil cooler tube from the automatic transaxle.
  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and remove the oil filler tube subassembly.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the oil filler tube subassembly.
  9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT 
    1. Remove the bolt and remove the transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle.

  11. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and remove the engine mounting bracket LH from the automatic transaxle.

  12. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 7 bolts and remove the automatic transaxle from the engine.

  15. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transaxle.
