Shift Lever: Removal

  1. REMOVE CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
  5. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever.

    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the transmission control cable stopper.
      NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If the stopper is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.
      NOTE: Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the interior spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

  6. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 nuts and shift lever.

  7. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly from the shift lever assembly.
