Transmission Control Cable ASSY (ATM): Replacement

HINT:

COMPONENTS:

• INSTRUMENT PANEL/METER (see COMPONENTS )
• FLOOR SHIFT ASSY (see FLOOR SHIFT ASSY (ATM) )

1. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REAR COVER 
2. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
3. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSY REAR (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
4. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT (SEE  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY  ) 
5. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1 
6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY 
7. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
   1. Remove the nut, disconnect the transmission control cable assy from the floor shift assy.
   2. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the transmission control cable assy from the shift lever plate.

   3. Remove the 3 bolts.
   4. Pull out the transmission control cable assy from the body.

   5. Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assy from the control shaft lever.
   6. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assy from the control cable bracket.

   7. Disconnect the transmission control cable assy from the transmission control cable support.

8. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
   1. Temporarily install the transmission control cable assy on the control shaft lever with the nut.
   2. Connect the transmission control cable assy with a new clip on the bracket.

   3. Connect the transmission control cable assy to the transmission control cable support.

   4. Install the transmission control cable assy on the body with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

   5. Connect the transmission control cable assy on the shift lever plate.

   6. Temporarily install the transmission control cable assy on the floor shift assy.

      Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

9. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSY 
10. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1 

    Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 ft.lbf) 

11. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT (SEE  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY  ) 
12. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (SEE  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
13. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (SEE  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
14. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSY REAR 
15. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
16. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX REAR COVER
