On-Vehicle Inspection

CHECK SHIFT LOCK OPERATION
1. Adjust the shift lever to the P position.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
3. Check that the shift lever cannot be adjusted to any positions other than P.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, depress the brake pedal and check that the shift lever can be adjusted to any other positions.
If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control switch.
CHECK SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION
1. When operating the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed and the ignition key in the ACC or ON position, check that the lever can be adjusted to any other positions.
If operation cannot be done as specified, check the shift lever assy installation condition.
CHECK KEY INTERLOCK OPERATION
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Depress the brake pedal and adjust the shift lever to any positions other than P position.
3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position.
4. Adjust the shift lever to the P position, turn the ignition key to the LOCK position and check that the ignition key can be removed.
If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control switch.

INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS .

HINT:

Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS .

SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

Terminal	Measuring Condition	Specified Value
1 (E) - Body ground	Constant	Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control switch.
