Inspection Procedure

  1. 1 CHECK ILLUMINATION 
    1. Operate the rheostat and check that the amount of light for the combination meter assy, the radio, player, the integration control and panel etc.
    CHECK ILLUMINATION

    A Combination meter does not change.
    B All lights do not change.

    B Go to step   6 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. 2 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1F-10 - Body ground Light control switch OFF Below 1 V
    F-10 - Body ground Light control switch in TAIL or HEAD position 10 to 14 V
    1. NG REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. 3 INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY

    1. Disconnect the combination meter connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    COMBINATION METER CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    C6-26 - Body ground Light control switch OFF Below 1 V
    C6-26 - Body ground Light control switch in TAIL or HEAD position 10 to 14 V
    1. NG REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. 4 INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY

    1. Disconnect the combination meter connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    COMBINATION METER CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    C6-27 - Body ground Rheostat switch MAX Below 1 Ω
    1. NG Go to step 5 
    2. OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  COMBINATION METER ASSY  ) 
  5. 5 INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    1. Inspect the light control rheostat. See INSPECTION .
    1. NG REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - COMBINATION METER ASSY) (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
  6. 6 INSPECT FUSE 
    1. Inspect the ALT fuse in the fusible link block assy.

      Standard: 

      Below 1 Ω 

    2. Inspect the TAIL fuse in the instrument panel junction block assy.

    Standard: 

    Below 1 Ω 

    1. NG INSPECT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT IN HARNESS AND ALL COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO FUSE 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  7. 7 INSPECT HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Inspect the light control switch of combination switch (See INSPECTION ).
    1. NG REPLACE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  8. 8 INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    1. Inspect the light control rheostat (See INSPECTION ).
    1. NG REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  9. 9 INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT

    1. Disconnect the light control rheostat connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    R6-5 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    1. NG Go to step   16 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  10. 10 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY(POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

    1. Disconnect 1C connector of the instrument panel junction block assy.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1C-1 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V
    1. NG REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - BATTERY) (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  11. 11 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1M-4 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V
    1. NG REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  12. 12 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1M-9 - Body ground Light control switch OFF Below 1 V
    1M-9 - Body ground Light control switch in TAIL or HEAD position 10 to 14 V
    1. NG REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  13. 13 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1F-10 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> TAIL or HEAD Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V
    1J-2 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> TAIL or HEAD Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V
    1N-5 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> TAIL or HEAD Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V
    1R-9 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> TAIL or HEAD Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V
    1. NG REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  14. 14 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

    1. Disconnect 1F, 1J, 1N, 1R connector of the instrument panel junction block assy.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1R-7 - 1F-11 Always Below 1 Ω
    1R-7 - 1J-6 Always Below 1 Ω
    1R-7 - 1N-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    1. NG REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  15. 15 CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT)

    1. Disconnect 1R connector of the instrument panel junction block assy and light control rheostat connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY AND LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1R-7 - R6-6 Always Below 1 Ω
    1R-7 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT) 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EACH OF ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT) (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
  16. 16 CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect 10 connector of the instrument panel junction block assy.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINAL RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1O-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    1. NG REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  17. 17 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

    1. Disconnect 1P connector of the instrument panel junction block assy.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINAL RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1P-14 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    1. NG REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT) (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  )
