Inspection Procedure
- 1 CHECK ILLUMINATION
- Operate the rheostat and check that the amount of light for the combination meter assy, the radio, player, the integration control and panel etc.
CHECK ILLUMINATIONA Combination meter does not change. B All lights do not change. B Go to step 6
A: GO TO NEXT STEP
- 2 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY

- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard:
INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGETester connection Condition Specified condition 1F-10 - Body ground Light control switch OFF Below 1 V F-10 - Body ground Light control switch in TAIL or HEAD position 10 to 14 V - NG REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- 3 INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Disconnect the combination meter connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard:
COMBINATION METER CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGETester connection Condition Specified condition C6-26 - Body ground Light control switch OFF Below 1 V C6-26 - Body ground Light control switch in TAIL or HEAD position 10 to 14 V - NG REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY)
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- 4 INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Disconnect the combination meter connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard:
COMBINATION METER CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCETester connection Condition Specified condition C6-27 - Body ground Rheostat switch MAX Below 1 Ω - NG Go to step 5
- OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See COMBINATION METER ASSY )
- 5 INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- Inspect the light control rheostat. See INSPECTION .
- NG REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY - COMBINATION METER ASSY) (SEE ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE )
- 6 INSPECT FUSE
- Inspect the ALT fuse in the fusible link block assy.
Standard:
Below 1 Ω
- Inspect the TAIL fuse in the instrument panel junction block assy.
Standard:
Below 1 Ω
- NG INSPECT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT IN HARNESS AND ALL COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO FUSE
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Inspect the ALT fuse in the fusible link block assy.
- 7 INSPECT HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect the light control switch of combination switch (See INSPECTION ).
- NG REPLACE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- 8 INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- Inspect the light control rheostat (See INSPECTION ).
- NG REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- 9 INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- Disconnect the light control rheostat connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard:
LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCETester connection Condition Specified condition R6-5 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω - NG Go to step 16
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- 10 INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY(POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

- Disconnect 1C connector of the instrument panel junction block assy.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard:
