On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSY 
    1. Check the operation.
      1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      3. Turn the hand-held tester ON.
      4. Start the engine and warm it up.
      5. Select the menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT CTRL B1.
      6. Operate the OCV using the hand-held tester, then check the engine speed.

      Standard: 

      SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      OCV is OFF Normal engine speed
      OCV is ON Rough idling or engine stalls

      If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve, wire harness and check ECM.

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSY 
    1. Listen to the throttle control motor operating sounds.
      1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      2. When pressing the accelerator pedal, listen to the running sound of the motor. Make sure no friction noises come from the motor.

      If friction noises exist, check the throttle body, wire harness and ECM.

    2. Check the throttle position sensor.
      1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      3. Turn the hand-held tester ON.
      4. Select the menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ALL / THROTTLE POS.

      5. Depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully opened, then check that the value of the "THROTTLE POS" is within the specification.
        1. Standard: 60 % or more 
      NOTE: When checking the standard throttle valve opening percentage, the transmission should be in the neutral position.

      If the result is not as specified, check the throttle body, wire harness and ECM.

  3. INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD ASSY 
    1. Check the voltage.
      1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      3. Turn the hand-held tester ON.
      4. Select the menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ALL / ACCEL POS #1, ACCEL POS #2.
      5. Operate the accelerator pedal, then check that the ACCEL POS #1 and ACCEL POS #2 values are within the specifications.

      ACCELERATOR PEDAL CONDITION SPECIFICATIONS (ACCEL POS #1)

      Accelerator Pedal Condition Specified Condition
      Released 0.5 to 1.1 V
      Depressed 2.5 to 4.5 V

      ACCEL POS #2: 

      ACCELERATOR PEDAL CONDITION SPECIFICATIONS (ACCEL POS #2)

      Accelerator Pedal Condition Specified Condition
      Released 1.2 to 2.0 V
      Depressed 3.4 to 5.0 V

      If the result is not as specified, check the accelerator pedal rod, wire harness and ECM.
