Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Saturn Aura. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear seat audio (RSA) controller.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal B6 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, test for 9.8-10.2 volts between the voltage reference circuit terminal A8 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the voltage reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- If greater than the specified range, test the voltage reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Radio ON, RSA ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the audio enable signal circuit terminal B5 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Radio OFF, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the audio enable signal circuit terminal B5 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector at the radio and the harness connector at the RSA controller.
- Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the radio.
- Ignition ON, RSA OFF, radio OFF, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the radio control circuit terminal 13 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RSA controller.
- Ignition ON, radio ON, RSA ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the radio control circuit terminal 13 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RSA controller.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rear seat audio controller.
