Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the 3 threads (1) in the transmission.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
    NOTE: It is essential to avoid pulling the central release at an angle.
  2. Install the central release (1).
      NOTE: Check the seal ring (arrow) for damage.
    • Attach the assembly aid (3) to the drive shaft (2) with KM-6157  . See Special Tools .
    • Lightly coat the seal ring in the central release with transmission fluid.
      • NOTE: Use new bolts.
    • Install the 3 bolts evenly in contact with the flange.

      Tighten:  Tighten the 3 bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  3. Install the pressure line (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the retaining nut to 14 N.m (124 lb in).

  4. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (Engine and Transmission) or Transmission Replacement (Transmission Only) .
