Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the steering angle sensor.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, test for 0 volts between the CAN bus low circuit terminal 4 and ground at the steering angle sensor connector.
- If greater than the specified value, test the CAN bus low circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for 0 volts between the CAN bus high circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the CAN bus high circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for infinite resistance between the CAN bus low circuit terminal 4 and the CAN bus high circuit terminal 3.
- If not the specified value, test the CAN bus circuits for a short to together.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the steering angle sensor.
