Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT: Always perform adjustment at both tie rods. The two tie rods may display a maximum difference in length of 5 mm (0.20 in) after adjustment.
  1. Put the steering in straight ahead position.
  2. Loosen the lock nut (1) at left and right tie rods.

    Counterhold at tie rod using open-ended wrench.

  3. Adjust the wheel toe by rotating the tie rod (2).

    IMPORTANT: The nominal value includes a tolerance range, thus permitting a toe-in setting (+ wheel toe) as well as a toe-out (- wheel toe). The tie rods must be set so that either both front wheels point inwards by half of the front toe-in setting, or both front wheels point outwards by half of the front toe-out setting.
