Amplifier Circuit Malfunction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the audio amplifier.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 8 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, test for B+ between the B+ circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Radio ON, test for B+ between the antenna 12 volt switched supply voltage signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Test for 0.6-1.0 V between the amplifier mute signal circuit terminal 7 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the audio amplifier.
