Component Testing

Rear Compartment lid Release Switch

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the ground terminal and the signal terminal with the switch in the open position.
    • If less than infinite resistance, replace the switch.
  3. Test for less than 1 ohm resistance between the ground terminal and the signal terminal with the switch in the closed position.
    • If greater than 1 ohm, replace the rear compartment lid release switch.

Trunk Release Relay

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the trunk release relay.
  2. Test for 60-180 ohms resistance between terminals 85 and 86.
    • If the resistance is not within the specified range, replace the trunk release relay.
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
    • 30 and 86
    • 30 and 87
    • 30 and 85
    • 85 and 87
  4. Install a 20-amp fused jumper between relay terminal 85 and 12 volts. Install a jumper between relay terminal 86 and ground. Test for less than 2.0 ohms resistance between terminals 30 and 87.
    • If greater than 2.0 ohms, replace the trunk release relay.

Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator and Folding Top Cover Actuator

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the actuator.
  2. Install a 10-amp fused jumper between the voltage supply circuit and 12 volts. Install a jumper between the ground terminal and ground. Verify the actuator activates.
    • If the actuator does not activate, replace the rear compartment lid release actuator.
