Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Saturn Ion Red Line, 2004 Saturn Ion 3, 2004 Saturn Ion 2, and 2004 Saturn Ion 1. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Position the carpet in the vehicle. Align the front holes over the weld studs in the floor pan. Ensure that the carpet is lying properly over the console area. Tuck the carpet behind the H brace. Fit the carpet over all of the rear seat heat ducts.
- On the sedan, tuck the carpet edge under the center pillar lower trim. Push the clips to engage the clips to the lower trim.
- Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear (Coupe) or Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear (Sedan) in Seats.
- Install the anchor bolts to the front seat belt retractors.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
- Install the carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front and to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Rear (Sedan) or Carpet Retainer Replacement - Rear (Coupe) .
- Install the center floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Install the front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 8 (Coupe) or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 8 (Sedan) in SIR.
CAUTION:
In order to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage when you repair or replace the carpet, use the same thickness and material size as the original installation. Always return the carpet to the original location.
