Circuit/System Testing
IMPORTANT:
Verify the DTC is current before performing this diagnostic
W/O Amplifier
- Test the suspect audio output signal circuit from the radio to the speakers for an open short to ground or short to power.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the radio.
With Amplifier
- Disconnect the amplifier harness connector containing the audio output signal circuits (from the radio).
- Turn ON and operate the radio. Center the fade and balance adjustments on the radio.
- At the amplifier harness connector, With a DMM verify there is 5-6 volts across all of the (-) and (+) audio output signal circuits (from the radio).
- If the voltage is not within the specified range on one or more audio input signal circuits test/repair short to B+, short to ground, open on the suspect audio output signal circuits or replace the radio.
- If the voltage is within the specified range on all audio output signal circuits replace the amplifier.
