Control Cable: Removal

  1. Disable Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
  2. Remove console. See CONSOLE  .
  3. Using a screwdriver, disconnect control cable from control assembly.
  4. Remove control cable retaining clip.
  5. Depress tabs on control cable and remove cable from control assembly. See Fig 1 .
  6. Disconnect control cable from transaxle range switch lever.
  7. Remove control cable retaining clip. See Fig 2 .
  8. Depress 2 tabs on control cable and remove cable from control cable bracket.
  9. Remove control cable grommet from dash panel. See Fig 3 .
  10. Remove control cable from control cable bracket.
