Shift Control Assembly: Installation
CAUTION:
Use only the approved sealer for the transaxle case to shifter cover mating surface.
- Apply Sealer (Saturn P/N 12378516) to the transaxle case to shifter cover mating surface. See Fig 1 .
- Install the shifter. See Figure
.NOTE: It will be necessary to move the shift lever when installing and tightening the bolts.
- Hand start all the shifter bolts.
- Tighten the shifter bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Verify that the transaxle is still in Neutral position.CAUTION: To avoid damage to the shifter guide bolt, hand start the bolt.
- Apply Pipe Sealant (Saturn P/N 21485278) to the shifter guide bolt and install the shifter guide bolt. Hand tighten only.
- Tighten the shifter guide bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the shift cables to the transaxle.
- Install the left front wheel.
