Shifter Control Assembly: Installation
CAUTION:
Use care when handling shifter control assembly while installing cables. The push rods can be bent, which will affect shifting.
- Connect cables to shifter control assembly. When installing shifter cable, use a pair of channel lock pliers to snap cable end socket into ball.
- Install shifter control assembly retaining nuts. Tighten shifter control assembly-to-floor pan nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install cable retainer plate with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle. See Figure . Install cable retainer plate and install bolt. Tighten shift cable retainer-to-floor pan bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install cable guide. Ensure cables are not kinked and shifter operates properly. Install wiring harness clip to shifter control assembly. Install control lever boot assembly. See CONTROL LEVER BOOT .
- Enable SIR system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
