Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT: Use Loctite 242® (or equivalent) on threads of pinch bolt.
  1. From inside vehicle, position intermediate steering shaft onto steering column and install pinch bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten Intermediate Steering Shaft-to-Column Pinch Bolt 47 N.m (35 lbs ft).

    CAUTION: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
    IMPORTANT: Use Loctite 242® (or equivalent) on threads of pinch bolt.
  3. Position intermediate steering shaft onto pinion and install pinch bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten Intermediate Steering Shaft-to-Steering Gear Pinch Bolt 47 N.m (35 lbs ft).

  4. Slide cover over intermediate steering shaft and attach securely to steering gear.
  5. Lower vehicle from hoist.
