Fuel Tank: Removal

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain fuel tank. See FUEL TANK DRAINING . Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove the filler pipe opening cover. Disconnect the fuel fill hose from fuel fill pipe. See Figure. Remove rear suspension support assembly. See appropriate REAR article in SUSPENSION.
  3. Disconnect fuel feed pipe and fuel return pipe. Disconnect the evaporative emission pipe from EVAP canister.
  4. Remove fuel and EVAP retainer from frame. Disconnect fuel sender harness connector. Disconnect fuel sender electrical harness from the retainers. Support fuel tank. Remove fuel tank strap bolts. Remove fuel tank.
