Rear Wheel Speed Sensor: Installation
CAUTION:
New nuts must be used as torque retention of old nuts may not be sufficient.
- Install hub and brake shield to rear axle control arm with new nuts. Tighten rear hub assembly-to-knuckle nuts to 50 N.m (37 ft lbs) + 30° to 45°.
- Install brake rotor/drum and tighten retaining screw. Tighten brake drum retaining fastener to 4 N.m (35 inch lbs).
- On vehicles equipped with rear disc brakes, perform the following steps:CAUTION: Clean caliper support bracket fasteners thoroughly with brake and choke cleaner (P/N 21007432 or equivalent). Apply Loctite 272(R) Threadlocker (or equivalent) to caliper support bracket fasteners. If Loctite 272(R) Threadlocker (or equivalent) is not available, new caliper support bracket fasteners must be used.
- Install caliper to rear axle control arm, tighten fasteners. Tighten rear caliper-to-rear axle control arm bolts to 80 N.m (59 ft lbs).
- Connect brake pipe support bracket to control arm. Tighten brake pipe bracket-to-rear control arm to 8 N.m (71 inch lbs).
NOTE: Ensure that all electrical connections are fully seated and latches are engaged. - Connect ABS sensor electrical connector.
CAUTION: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors. Failure to do so can cause wheel bolts to loosen in service.
- Position wheel and tire assembly onto hub.
- Install wheel bolts and tighten in a crisscross pattern.
- Hand tighten all five wheel bolts.
- Use a torque wrench to tighten wheel bolts using a crisscross pattern. Tighten wheel bolts (initial torque) to 63 N.m (46 ft lbs).
- Use a torque wrench to final tighten wheel bolts using a crisscross pattern. Tighten wheel bolts (final torque) to 125 N.m (92 ft lbs).
- Lower vehicle from hoist.
- Program EBTCM with correct engine and transaxle options or DTD C0551 will set and traction control will not operate.
