Front Cover And Oil Pump Assembly Replacement: Installation
WARNING:
Ensure that vehicle is securely supported before lifting on a hoist. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is not on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which components are being removed. Ensure that the hoist does not contact fuel or brake lines.
- Jack vehicle or raise on a hoist.
- Install new front cover gasket and cover assembly.
- Install front cover bolts. Tighten front cover-to-block bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft-lbs). See Figure .
- Install right engine mount. Refer to RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT & BRACKET .
- Remove engine support fixture and engine support fixture adapter.
- Install drive belt tensioner. Tighten drive belt tensioner bolt to 50 N.m (37 ft-lbs). See Figure .
- Install crankshaft damper pulley.
- Lubricate front seal and sealing surface of damper pulley with clean motor oil.
- Install damper onto crankshaft indexing keyway, use care to properly align the flats on damper with flats on oil pump drive.
- Install crankshaft damper pulley bolt and washer using pulley holding tool while tightening. Tighten crankshaft damper pulley bolt to 100 N.m (74 ft-lbs) + 75°. See Figure .
- Install engine accessory drive belt. See Figure .
- Install right wheel and splash shield. See Figure .
- Add engine oil to specifications. See Figure .
- Install air cleaner assembly. See Figure .
- Connect negative battery cable. Tighten battery terminal bolts to 17 N.m (13 ft-lbs).
