Ignition Module/PASSLOCK Sensor: Removal

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove lock cylinder bezel from steering column shroud by carefully prying with a thin bladed screwdriver.

  4. Remove steering column upper shroud panel.

  6. Insert key into ignition lock cylinder and rotate to START position. Then rotate cylinder back to the RUN position.
  7. Depress the locking button on the top of ignition module assembly with a thin pick-type tool. Slide lock cylinder assembly from ignition module.

  9. Remove shroud fasteners and remove steering column lower shroud panel.

  11. Disconnect ignition switch connector and remove ignition switch from ignition module.

  13. Remove park lock solenoid.

  15. Remove turn signal/headlamp lever, windshield washer lever, and passlock sensor connector.

  17. Remove ignition module shear bolts.

    1. Use a light hammer and a chisel to bite into shear bolt head at a position offset from its center.

    3. Tap the chisel to rotate the bolt and loosen it.
    4. Repeat until bolt is loose enough to remove.
  18. Remove ignition module assembly from the steering column.
