Engine Does Not Crank, Solenoid Clicks

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2001 Saturn LW300, 2001 Saturn LW200, 2001 Saturn L300, 2001 Saturn L200, and 2001 Saturn L100. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with anti-theft system and starting system was not found to be at fault, check anti-theft system for proper operation. See appropriate ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.

Ensure battery cables are clean and tight. Check for short or open in Red battery cable between positive battery terminal and starter solenoid. Repair as necessary. If battery cable is okay, check for mechanical engine seizure due to extreme cold conditions or mechanical failure. If engine is okay, replace starter assembly.
