DTC B0846: Battery 2 Out Of Range (SCM): Testing

  1. If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Using scan tool, select Seat Control Module (SCM) data display. Monitor BATTERY 2 data. If 8.5-16.3 volts does not exist, go to next step. If 8.5-16.3 volts exist, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect SCM Black 6-pin connector C3. SCM is located under front of driver's seat. See Figure . Using DVOM, check voltage between SCM harness connector C3 terminal "A" (Orange wire) and ground. See Figure . If 8.5-16.3 volts does not exist, go to step  5 . If 8.5-16.3 volts exist, go to step  7 .
  4. Using scan tool, check if DTC B2002, B2007 or B2012 have been stored as history. If none of these DTCs are stored as history, go to step  7 . If any of these DTCs are stored as history, go to POWER SEATS - CORVETTE article for diagnostic and repair procedures.
  5. Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between instrument panel electrical center and SCM connector C3. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  6. Replace SCM. See SEAT CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  7. Check for intermittent malfunctions in Orange wire between instrument panel electrical center and SCM connector C3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem circuit or connector is not found, go to next step. If problem circuit or connector is repaired, go to step  9 .
  8. Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Turn ignition on and clear any DTCs. Wait 2 seconds. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC B0846 does not reset as history, system is okay at this time. If DTC B0846 resets as history, go to step  6 .
  9. Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Turn ignition on and clear any DTCs. Recheck system operation. If system continues to malfunction, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
