Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool, command COOLING FAN RELAY on while monitoring COOL FAN REL. - HIGH VOLT test. If scan tool displays TEST FAIL, go to next step. If scan tool does not display TEST FAIL, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  2. Remove cooling fan relay from underhood fuse block. Replace with known good relay. Using scan tool, command COOLING FAN RELAY on while monitoring COOL FAN REL. - HIGH VOLT test. If scan tool displays TEST PASS, replace cooling fan relay. If scan tool does not display TEST PASS, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire between underhood fuse block and PCM or faulty PCM.
