Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Attempt to start engine. If engine starts, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If engine does not start, go to next step.
  2. Check ENGINE CNTRL 3 fuse. Replace fuse as necessary. Remove fuel pump relay located in underhood fuse block. Connect a test light between relay battery feed and control circuit (Light Green wire) in fuse block. Using scan tool, command fuel pump on. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, check connectors at fuse block. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, replace fuel pump relay.
  3. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Connect test light between ground and relay battery feed in underhood fuse block. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in relay battery feed circuit in underhood fuse block. If test light illuminates, check for open in Light Green wire between fuel pump relay and ECM. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, check connectors at fuse block. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, replace ECM.
