SOHC Engine

  1. Remove air intake tube at throttle body. Observe position of throttle plate. Adjust cruise control cable by depressing at locations shown to release cruise control cable adjuster. See Figure . Slide cruise control cable adjuster away from cruise control module. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, measure and read Throttle Position (TP) sensor voltage.
  2. Slide cruise control cable adjuster toward cruise control module until .040-.079" (1-2 mm) clearance is reached between cruise control cable adjuster and accelerator pedal bracket. Every click of cruise control cable adjuster is about .040-.079" (1-2 mm) of movement. Ensure that a slight amount of free play exists in accelerator cable. Using scan tool, ensure TP sensor voltage is not more than previously measured voltage.
